Heather: Bridal - Chattanooga Wedding Photographer

I was so excited to see Heather last Tuesday! She looked AMAZING in her dress from Monica's! Since the wedding reception would be held at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club, we decided to do her bridal portraits there.  The weather ended up being fabulous the evening of her shoot. Darin Wright, owner and make-up artist of Elea Blake, did all of Heather's make-up! Absolutely gorgeous!  Kristen from Hair A Go Go was Heather's up-do stylist.  She did an incredible job as well!

I cannot express how much I love doing bridal portrait sessions!  They are so much fun and I really can take time to just focus on the bride.  Some brides do not want to do bridal sessions. I, however, would not want to risk there being a chance of rain or even a downpour on my wedding day.  Plus, this gives the bride an opportunity to "test-run" her look for the big day . . . and break in her shoes.

Anyway, the whole crew was there to support Heather . . . her mom, my mom, Heather's grandmothers, Heather's aunt, and an occasional country club member who passed by who couldn't believe little Heather was all grown-up and getting married :)  Here are a few of my favorite images from the evening:

Loved getting the sun-flare in this next one :)

How perfect that the trees were sprouting pink flowers . . . just her wedding colors!

Gorgeous light here! Her coloring pops against the blues and greens!

I got really excited when I saw her veil was cathedral length!!!

Gotta get a rustic, artsy shot in :)

I loved catching this moment.  It's the moment you know your mother is your best friend as well.

Look at this beautiful face!!! Ah! Although Heather is a natural beauty, I can't get over how great her make-up looked.

"Wet skies" make for great pictures!  If rain is in the forecast any day surrounding the day you shoot, this is often the result.  Love it!

Emi: Bridal - Knoxville Wedding Photographer

Today, as I was clearing out some space on my hard drive, I realized that I never posted any photos from Emi's bridal session! Around mid-May we met up in the Old City for an "urban" bridal shoot. Emi definitely worked it out! She is so much fun and generally up for anything! Just my style :) Here's a little mid-week treat for all you blog readers:

I told her to look "FIERCE." Isn't that what Tyra Banks always says? Emi's a master of the "fierce" look :)

Clayton - Cleveland Children's Photographer

It was a warm summer evening and I was on my way to photograph 4 year old Clayton.  About 2 months prior, I received a phone call from his mother Camille who had been referred to me by another client.  Given the referral, I assumed that her son was a senior in high school needing senior pictures.  As we continued chatting, Camille described her son as being "unagreeable with the camera."  I said, "Oh that's not a problem.  I can generally get a chuckle or two out of my clients." Camille then went on to say that she will probably have Clayton's grandmother stand in for her at the shoot because he tends to be more agreeable around her for pictures. "Oh, and sometimes he covers up his face when there's a camera around," she said.

Cue car screech

"Hold on,"  I said.  "I'm confused.  Exactly how old is your son?"

"Oh, he's four," she said.

As I burst out laughing, I explained that I thought she was calling me about senior pictures! "It's all adding up now," I said.

Before pulling down his grandmother's street, I tried remembering what I was like when I was four. This is the picture that popped in my head:

Obviously . . . I was thrilled.  I remember the photographer telling me that I could not bring my stuffed cat into the picture. And it made me sad.  By winter, however, I had matured.  I had matured enough to match my stuffed animals' outfits to mine. This time I brought Kermit. Kermit's vest matched my skirt so there was no reason why he shouldn't be in the picture. Although the photographer begged me to put Kermit down, I kept shaking my head no. When he finally gave in, I couldn't help but smile :) This was the result:

As I pulled into the driveway, I saw Clayton running around the yard with his water gun.  His grandmother was gardening.  Life was good.  So, I brought out my camera and began taking pictures of Clayton . . . just being Clayton.  Here are a few of my favorites:

After he finished running around the house, he stopped to chat for a while.

Then . . . he started rolling in the grass. LOL!

Clayton showing me his tricycle.  He thought I was too tall to ride it.  I begged to differ.

A quick shot as Clayton ran by me again.

Clayton loves playing with sticks.

It was getting hot outside so we went inside to play.

Clayton and his grandmother working on a project . . . with sticks :)

Clayton inspecting things with his magnify glass.

Inspecting the stick before construction . . .

I love this next picture!  Clayton reminds me of an old man.  Clayton was trying to pick out his Halloween costume from a magazine.  I remember doing that in AUGUST as well :)
Photobucket

I imagine he'll be making this same face when he's in his twenties reading about political scandal in the newspaper.

Clayton's talking to his grandmother about his chores . . . trying to remember what they are :)

Cookie time!

Pure delight!

Clayton was showing me a craft he's been working on in the kitchen.

Elizabeth and Clint - Pawley's Island Wedding Photographer

Last month I was fortunate to receive the opportunity to photograph Elizabeth and Clint in a vacation spot that holds great sentimental value.  Elizabeth's family has been coming to Pawley's Island every summer for many generations.  Likewise, my husband's family has been doing the same . . . just a few houses down.  As destiny would have it, Clint is cousins with my sister's husband.  Clint marries Elizabeth.  I marry Nathan.  The "poof fairy" comes and suddenly we're all vacationing in the same spot.  Even though Elizabeth and Clint married about a year ago, they had dreamed about having their wedding on Pawley's Island. Logistically, however, it was not going to work at that time.  I am absolutely in LOVE with the following pictures!  Elizabeth and Clint have such great chemistry! Elizabeth is a artist/painter and Clint an attorney.  I guess opposites do attract! Elizabeth has this great mix of sultry and silly that commands attention.  I definitely recommend checking out their SLIDESHOW as well.

The house where Elizabeth's family stays seems from another time period!  It was one of the few houses that has survived the hurricanes.  There is no AC but the house is tucked away under a maze of trees, protected from the sun's heat.

The next picture was taken from their wrap-around porch that once served as a spot for community church services.  Built-in benches lined the walls.
Photobucket

Reminds me of how life should be . . . relaxed and simple.
Photobucket

I love that her nail polish is wearing off.  Looks more rustic.
Photobucket

Elizabeth is simply beautiful!
Photobucket

Doesn't Clint remind you of Adrien Brody in King Kong?
Photobucket

Love how the wind lifted up the veil just a little!
Photobucket

This is the exact location where Clint proposed to Elizabeth!  They also honeymooned at Pawley's.
Photobucket

Doesn't Elizabeth look like the prima ballerina here? Their dog Wallace thought he'd take a peak at what I was doing down on the sand :)
Photobucket

The next sequence of pictures gets me tickled.  Elizabeth and Clint had no idea that Wallace was trying to make this a family photo.

Photobucket

LOL! Jigs up, Wallace!
Photobucket

A romantic magazine ad perhaps?
Photobucket

Climbing on the jetty! The sign actually posted said, "Stay off the Groin!"  Clint joked that's good advice to carry with me at all times.  LOL!
Photobucket

Love the crashing of the waves!
Photobucket

Breath-taking!
Photobucket

The next picture is one of my favorites!

Her dress would have been perfect for a beach wedding! It was actually her mother's dress that she had altered.  Neat!

Elizabeth is so vivacious!

The next picture reminds me of something out of Brazil! Stunning!
